Aftershock

After the last post about the drama of the "7th game" and all the agony & ecstasy that come with them, I needed to confess something. It was supposed to be in the end about the "ecstasy" side but my beloved Bruins ruined that story line. However, in the days that followed a similar pattern took shape. Here in Boston and in many other sports cities across America; the aftershocks wore off a bit, the talk shows stopped screaming and as the old expression goes, time indeed may help in healing wounds. Now let's not get carried away and think that time erases the pain ever !!  No sireee …tell that to Boston fans up here and they talk about Bucky Dent, Bill Buckner, Aaron Boone, Ken Dryden, Andrew Toney and of course too many men on the ice. Yea time may help but it never erases the memories…..funny thing though, as the screaming died down and the reality set in with no one to blame.

In the meantime, the Celtics are still alive, the Red sox are suddenly relevant, the Revs find themselves in 1st place and the NFL draft left us all with freshly found hope for a new season just around the corner. I guess it’s just a way to mask the disappointment, like a bottle of Tylenol after a round but it seems to work, each and every year, like the change of seasons. We are blessed with a plethora of sports and activities up here in Titletown to jump in and take the front page of everyone's sports mind.  Other things help the cause;  Auto Racing, tennis, golf and even the Derby catches our eye sometimes and lets us put more time in between now and the past.

Summer brings us the beach and other warm weather activities to occupy our time. Oh well, all I know is that the pitching better hold up, Marcus Smart needs to stop shooting, the Pats still need help and oh the Bruins just signed a 1st round prospect….maybe things are already looking up, hope really does spring eternal.
